Should not be used in the microwave (we prefer not to take chances, even though we know many products made by the same type of plastic are marked “microwave safe”. However, if you have greasy food in the box, it may melt with this kind of use).
Loves the dishwasher (remember that lighter colors can get discolored by the dishwater if washed for example with a lot of tomato sauce leftovers).
How easily can children open the boxes? We have worked a lot on the opening mechanism. The Tractor is narrowest in the middle and therefore the simplest one for small hands to open. Both types (Tractor and Owl) are simple to open when there is food (hence weight) inside. With weight the lid will easily come right off. Our 8-year-old daughter has no problems with opening the Owl box at school, all by herself. The Owl box also provides an extra grip on the back, as it has a fuller tummy (loves food…) than the Tractor.
